Behind the Benefits: June 2026
Answers to questions from the June 2026 member webinar with a representative from Silver&Fit.
Questions and Responses
Can I get reimbursement for marriage counseling (out of network)? If so, how?
Because out-of-network benefits vary by plan, we encourage you to call the Advantage MD Member Services number and speak with a representative. They can explain your cost share and help you explore your options.
Reimbursement for out-of-network marriage counseling depends on several factors, including when the services were received, whether the out-of-network provider submitted a claim, and the amount paid for those services.
Our friendly Member Services team can also help you find in-network marriage counselors, which may lower your cost per session, and guide you through the reimbursement process if you’re eligible. There are Member Reimbursement forms on the Member Resources page of our website as well, and you should include any receipts with forms submitted.
What do it cost to get to use the pool at LA Fitness?
One of the great benefits of joining LA Fitness is that pool access is included with the Standard membership. There’s no additional fee to use the pool for Aqua Fit classes or during open swim. That means you can enjoy LA Fitness at no extra cost and take advantage of the pool for free whenever it’s available. This requires you to select LA Fitness as your Silver&Fit facility. If you are a member at a different gym, you will need to contact LA Fitness for their costs.
If I need a new exercise band, must I register for the at home program or could I get one for use in a fitness class at a gym?
When you register for the Strength Band Kit through the Fit at Home program, you’re free to use your strength band anytime and anywhere that works best for you. It’s not limited to the at-home workouts — those are simply an added benefit designed to support your personal fitness and wellness goals.
Do you have a physical therapy place with a pool in my plan?
Yes! Our network includes several physical therapy facilities with onsite pools for aqua therapy and other water-based treatments and services. We recommend calling our Advantage MD Member Services team to help you find an in-network facility with a pool that accepts your specific plan.
You can also use our online provider search tool to search for locations near you today. Here’s the link to get started: www.hopkinsmedicare.com/members/find-a-provider/
Are there personal trainers in the Silver&Fit program?
With Silver&Fit, you have several great options when it comes to working with a personal trainer. Through FitnessCoach® Virtual Training, available on the Silver&Fit website, you can meet with a certified personal fitness trainer by live video to create a customized workout plan, build an exercise routine, and track your progress along the way.
If you prefer an in-person experience, you can also connect with a personal trainer at the in-network participating gym of your choice.
How about physical activity through community college classes?
Physical activity through community college classes are not currently included in the Silver&Fit program. To participate, a facility must meet a few important criteria, including:
- $1,000,000 in liability insurance coverage
- An acceptable Better Business Bureau record
- Staff oversight
- The ability to collect monthly or yearly fees
- The owner not being excluded from Medicare
By calling Advantage MD Member Services or the Silver&Fit Member Services team, we’re happy to help you explore other Silver&Fit-approved fitness choices that may be a better fit for your needs. We can assist you in nominating a facilty that is not currently participating, and if the meet the above guidelines and are interested in joining our network, we will work with them on becoming a participating facility.
Can you belong to a standard fitness center and also sign up to a premium service?
Yes! You can enroll in one Standard facility at no cost, and then add as many Premium facilities as you’d like through the monthly member fee Buy Up option. You would be responsible for any applicable fees for each additional location.
Is Silver&Fit personal coaching free?
Your plan includes several great benefits and coaching options at no extra cost:
Well-Being Coaching: Enjoy complimentary one-on-one sessions by phone, video, or chat with trained coaches who can support your fitness, stress, sleep, and nutrition goals.
On-Demand Videos & Classes: Get unlimited access to digital workout videos, personalized workout plans, and the Well-Being Club.
Please note that while these well-being and healthy-aging coaching services are included at no additional cost, some live video sessions with a personal trainer (such as those via the FitnessCoach® Virtual Training program) may have a small per-session copay or may be limited depending on your specific plan.
Can I select both the fitness center and home fitness kit options?
You have the flexibility to choose either a participating fitness center membership or an annual at-home workout kit, whichever best fits your lifestyle. Please note that only one option can be selected per benefit year.
Gym Memberships: Enjoy no-cost access to thousands of standard participating fitness centers across the country.
Home Fitness Kits: If you prefer to work out from the comfort of home, you can select one at-home workout kit each benefit year.
These two options can’t be used at the same time during the same plan year. If you choose the Home Fitness Kit option, you can still enjoy other Silver&Fit benefits, including Healthy Aging Coaching by phone with a trained coach.
These sessions can help you explore topics such as:
- Exercise
- Nutrition
- Social isolation
- Brain health
Can you sign up for 2 premium facilities at the same time if you pay the fees?
Absolutely! You can join multiple Premium locations if that’s the option that best fits your needs. Just keep in mind that you’ll be responsible for the applicable fees at each location when using the Buy Up option.
My copay is $30 a visit. My therapist wants to see me 2 times a week. That is $240 a month. I can’t afford it.
Thank you for reaching out. We understand that this can be a challenging situation, and we’re here to help.
We encourage you to contact the Advantage MD Member Services team. We can connect you with our Care Management department, where skilled Community Health Workers assist eligible plan members in finding programs that may help with health care needs and costs.
We can also refer you to the Maryland State Health Insurance Assistance Program (MD SHIP). This free, unbiased counseling service connects members with trained SHIP counselors who can help you explore and apply for financial assistance programs, such as Medicare Savings Programs or the federal Extra Help program. These resources may help cover certain health care costs, including Part B premiums, deductibles, and prescription copays.
Through personalized support, your local SHIP office can help you determine whether you may qualify for state or federal assistance and identify savings opportunities that may help offset other healthcare expenses, including specialist copays.
Is lifetime fitness included in the program?
You can easily search for participating, in-network fitness centers using the Silver&Fit website at www.silverandfit.com/search, or give their Member Services team a call at 877-427-4788 (TTY/TDD 711) if you need any help. If you do not see your local Lifetime Fitness as a participating facility, you can still nominate it by submitting a few quick details through Silver&Fit’s online nomination form. Silver&Fit will then contact the fitness center, let them know you’re interested, and encourage them to join the network.
